💌 Dear Awaken into Love
My healing journey is not as I thought it would be. I’ve been doing this work for quite a while now but I feel I’m lagging behind. I fear I am the exception that will never recover fully. All these success stories trigger me: couples getting married, those ones having sudden breakthroughs and who are out of ROCD/RA in a matter of a few months. I’ve been part of this community for years, a decade almost. Of course, I’ve been improving and I have long cognitively understood ROCD. I am definitely an expert at it: read all the books, took the course, saw therapists. I’ve dived into all the rabbit holes and explored many avenues of healing. I think I’ve been a good student. I get it, I really get it. Yet, I feel this ick within, something’s off, something’s not right, not sure why. A diffuse sensation of wrongness that pervades my days and makes me question if that’s what healing should look like. Am I failing at my healing journey? Please help.
–My Anxious Obsessive-Mind
✨ Dear anxious-obsessive mind,
Thank you for opening your tired heart to us, no matter how difficult it is, and by doing so helping so many others. Because, you’re not alone with that feeling. AT ALL. You can actually watch on Youtube the personal story of our own AIL Director, Manon, who is sharing about her long and slow ROCD/RA healing journey as well. What is healing really? There are incredible human beings doing the best they can with their own past stories, traumas, trials and mysteries to untangle. There are millions of different human beings on earth and, equally, millions of healing journeys possible. It’s so painful to live holding tight to unrealistic expectations, comparison and shame. At Awaken into Love, our deepest intention is not to eliminate all suffering from your life (it’s humanly impossible) but rather to profoundly change your relationship to it at two important levels. How? By awakening both how you understand it cognitively but also, and maybe most importantly, how you relate to it. That is the compassion piece: how you talk to your scared, discouraged and shameful parts. Both count. For us, obsessive minds, the cognitive piece can sometimes feel easier and quicker, yet the way we love ourselves through pain, that is a lifetime process. We love you, keep going. YANA.
