Your inspirational tip from the Awaken into Love Team
“How are you treating yourself when the obsessions kick in? How do you treat yourself when you feel anxious? If you’re treating yourself with kindness, compassion and acceptance then you’re moving into awakening”

✨ A Healing Breakthrough from Kiyomi’s Journal
Hi loves,
Kiyomi here.
Today, I want to share something deeply personal with you – a journal entry I wrote years ago when I was in the thick of ROCD/RA. I’ve never shared this with anyone before. My hope is that it offers you a mirror, something to reflect on in your own journey, wherever you are.
As always with personal stories, I invite you to take what resonates and discard the rest. With ROCD/RA, we can get trapped into comparison and that can be a very sticky slope.
💌 Hi journal,
I woke up today with an epiphany.
I know they sometimes say that through the journey of ROCD you won’t always have big epiphanies, and many times they will be small ones, which is something I’m trying to remember when I feel like I haven’t been having any progress.
It’s the small things over and over, over a long period of time that make the biggest difference.
But today, I did have an epiphany that I wanted to share with you.
I’m realizing that I’ve had beliefs about healing that have made healing more challenging for me. And I realized for the first time, that not only is my approach to healing important, but what I believe about healing and how it SHOULD look is really important.
For example, I’ve always thought a couple things about healing:
It would be fast, I would have an epiphany and wake up without ROCD/RA.
I would never experience anxiety or intrusive thoughts ever again.
I would feel love and certainty when ROCD/RA would be gone.
But here’s what I’ve been realizing…
“Healing isn’t fast because it’s not meant to be fast”. Our brains take time to change. We expect speed because we live in a world of fast delivery, fast responses but that’s not how growth works.
“I’ll never experience anxiety or intrusive thoughts ever again is a faulty idea”. This belief sets me up for suffering. My brain’s been wired for anxiety for 20 years, it makes sense that it would still show up sometimes. Healing isn’t the absence of anxiety. But, it’s learning how to relate to it differently.
“Even when ROCD is gone, I won’t feel love and certainty all the time. This one’s big. I thought healing meant getting back to constant love feelings and 100% certainty. But that’s not what healing really is. It’s knowing love feelings come and go and that’s okay. It’s finding safety not in certainty, but in not needing certainty anymore.

PS. I think i’m starting to get it! Wahooo!
When I wrote this, I was starting to gain tremendous amounts of wisdom, and to be able to really understand what healing and integration was looking like. It’s been a long journey, but I love looking back at these notes, they remind me what real healing looks like, and that you’re never alone in this.
